It all began with a big idea and an even bigger field, paired with a talented chef and a dedicated staff back in the winter of 2021…
After opening Peaceful Side Social Brewery + Craft Kitchen, we instantly became a wild success in the small mountain town of Townsend, Tennessee. We knew we had to do something to reduce the long wait for our craft kitchen menu items. After putting a lot of thought and research into our next venture we decided tacos would be the perfect addition to our mountain-modern social.
So, we decided to buy a giant metal freight container and slapped it right in the middle of our Beer Garden. We cut some holes in it, put in a big kitchen, added a bar and finish the whole thing off with walnut accents.
Our new Taco Bar opened in April 2022, and we’ve been serving street style tacos and fresh margaritas ever since! Additionally, our Taco Bar kitchen is a Gluten Free environment making it easy for people with sensitivities to gluten.
Chef Jeff Carter is the flavor mastermind behind all of our menus at Peaceful Side Social and the other Oldham Hospitality properties. What’s the most important ingredient? Chef says, “The food takes in the environment that it’s made in. There is a lot of love and days of hard work that go into one little taco that you eat in 2 minutes.”
All of our taco meats are smoked, pulled, marinated, and braised in house using the freshest ingredients possible.
The chicken we use is boneless and marinated an entire day with pineapple, cilantro and chorizo seasoning. It is then roasted, chopped, and rolled in our heavy citrus pineapple marinade before being put inside the taco.
Our beef is chili braised Birria style made with dried chilies, green bell peppers, fresnos, and fire roasted tomatoes before cooking low and slow for 6 to 8 hours. We do it overnight, and after it’s done cooking we fold the meat into the marinade for extra round of flavor.
Our pork tacos are made with smoked pork shoulder seasoned with cumin, smoked paprika and a juicy marinade. For the vegetarian taco we currently serving a Quinoa and Black Bean Blend.
All of our tacos are made with your choice of a flour or corn tortilla!
Street Tacos are a classic street food typically served with chopped onion, cilantro, and a slice of lime. We take things a step further to add a little more density by garnishing our street style tacos with pick de gallo, cotija cheese, cilantro and a lime.
Of course your tacos are not complete unless they are paired with a delicious, citrusy margarita to cool you off! We serve 3 fresh made margaritas including a traditional lime, a spicy, and a fruity flavor of the week. You will be sure to find the perfect pairing with 3 levels of tequila to chose from: Well, House, or Premium!
